Artist Statement

I am an abstract artist creating geometric works that explore the relationship between structure, surface and memory. With a background in graphic and textile design, my practice is informed by a lifelong fascination with pattern, texture and the quiet beauty found in both natural and built environments. Weathered surfaces, architectural forms and the changing qualities of light all influence my visual language.

Working intuitively with acrylic paint, I create my own painted papers, building layered surfaces and rich patinas before cutting and collaging them into carefully balanced geometric compositions. This process combines the precision of design with the spontaneity of painting, allowing each piece to evolve through subtle shifts in colour, texture and rhythm.

Rather than depicting specific places, my work seeks to evoke their atmosphere, suggesting traces of landscape, season and lived experience through abstraction. Recent explorations in colour reflect an interest in the emotional resonance of palette, using harmonious yet expressive combinations to create works that offer moments of contemplation, optimism and connection.

Artist Biography

I originally studied at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design and hold a degree in printed textiles. After a ten-year career in graphic design I returned to study at the University for the Creative Arts, earning an MA with distinction in art textiles in 2016.

I have shown work in group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. In 2017 I had a joint exhibition at the prestigious GalleryGallery in Kyoto, Japan. I have also had work selected for the RA Summer Exhibition, London (2022 & 2024) Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh (2022) and Royal West of England Academy, Bristol (2022 & 2023).
